On 22 December 2022, the Men in Blue took on Bangladesh in Mirpur for the second and last match of the ongoing Test series. They were coming off after an easy win by a margin of 188 runs in the series opener. So, they were looking for another win to improve their chances to get qualified for the final of the World Test Championship.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma missed this Test match again due to his thumb injury. So, KL Rahul led the team again in this clash. However, all eyes were on Virat Kohli as he failed to score big in the first match. However, in the ODI series, he scored his 72nd international hundred. So, fans were hoping for another hundred in this series.
Virat Kohli scored 24 runs off 73 balls against Bangladesh in the second Test
In the first match, Virat Kohli scored one run in the first innings while managing only 19* runs in the second innings. So, Virat was also looking for a big knock in the longest format of the game for India. Since the Asia Cup 2022, the former India skipper had a great run with the bat. In the 20-20 World Cup 2022, he was the highest run-scorer for the Men in Blue. However, he took a rest in both the ODI and T20I series in New Zealand.
In the ODI series in Bangladesh, he managed to score his 72nd international hundred across all formats in the third and last match. However, in the first innings of the second Test, Virat Kohli scored only 24 runs off 73 balls before getting out against Taskin Ahmed. He managed to hit only three fours. So, fans were not happy with the former India skipper as it was another failure for him in the longest format of the game.
