Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings locked horns in the fans’ termed ‘El Classico’ of the Indian Premier League. Both teams played the 12th match of this ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Batting first, MI scored a total of 157 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Later on, while chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings comfortably crossed the line in 18.1 overs and won the match by a big margin of seven wickets.
The fans were also elated following the thumping victory of CSK and their second consecutive win in the tournament. Fans also praised CSK’s performance and also criticized Mumbai Indians for yet another defeat in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Talking about the entire action of the match, Mumbai on being asked to bat first, somehow managed to post a total of 157 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs; thanks to the crucial knocks of 32 and 31 runs by Ishan Kishan and Tim David respectively.
Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scalped three wickets for the yellow outfits in the first innings; other than him Tushar Deshpande and Mitchell Santner scalped two wickets each alongside one wicket claimed by Sisanda Magala.
While chasing the target, the veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane played a swashbuckling knock of 61 runs off just 27 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes to his name. Other than him, the star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad also played a crucial unbeaten knock of 40 runs off 36 balls with two boundaries and a six to his name.
On the back of these knocks, the visitors managed to chase down the target of 159 runs for the loss of three wickets in 18.1 overs to win the match by a big margin of seven wickets. The veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja won the ‘Player of the Match for his match-defining bowling performance in favour of Chennai Super Kings.
