On 22 November 2022, team India locked horns with the Kiwis in Napier for the third and last match of the ongoing T20I series. The first match of the series got abandoned due to heavy rain in Wellington. In the second match, the Men in Blue defeated Kane Williamson and his men by a huge margin of 65 runs.
So, India were looking to seal the series in Napier under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. On the other hand, New Zealand were looking to win this game to draw the series. However, the fans of Sanju Samson were not happy with the star all-rounder and team management for not picking the player in the second match.
Sanju Samson again missed the playing XI for the third match of the series
Speaking of Sanju Samson, he was in contention to go to the 20-20 World Cup for India. Reports were there that this star Indian wicketkeeper can replace Rishabh Pant in the final squad. But, selectors went with Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Now, after the World Cup, fans were hoping to see Sanju in action in this series. He was also seen in great touch in practice sessions. A video of him hitting ‘No-look’ sixes went viral also. But, Hardik Pandya did not consider him in the second match.
Now, in the third match, fans were again hoping to see him in the playing XI. But, team India again ignored him as Sanju Samson only made it to the bench. Seeing such a decision again, fans went berserk on the team management. Before this match, former Pakistani player, Danish Kaneria also criticized team India for wasting a talent like Sanju Samson. He said: “India are wasting talent like Sanju Samson by making him sit on the bench. He is a fantastic batter who is capable of carrying the team on his shoulders. The team management must keep an eye on the future. Samson could be a very good choice to lead India at some stage. He should be given consistent opportunities now.”
Here is how fans have slammed team India for not picking Sanju Samson again for the third T20I:
