The Ashes 2023 was a wonderful series which was tied 2-2. But Australia took the urn. Moeen Ali had a huge part to play in the series as he came back from Test retirement and picked up vital wickets for the England side right through the series. The off-spinner picked up nine wickets in four games at an average of 51.44. Moeen came back into Test cricket at the behest of Ben Stokes. After the Ashes, he said he will not play any Test cricket and even if Stokes messages him he will delete it.

When he was asked whether he would rescind his retirement and be part of the upcoming India series, he said he was done and he will not play Test Cricket again. There is no way I am going (to India). It is nice to finish like this. Test cricket is the best cricket. I wish I could rewind time, "Moeen has played 68 Test matches for England and has amassed 3094 runs with five hundreds and fifteen fifties. Moeen has also picked up 204 wickets in Test Cricket.

I had nothing to lose in the Ashes series: Mooen Ali

"Although my Test career has been a bit up and down, I wouldn't change it. I've loved it. I would have regretted (not accepting England's recall) later in life. "It was quite daunting because I've never done well against Australia. I had nothing to lose - it was a free hit," Moeen added. He then indicated that he will still play cricket but his focus will solely be on franchises and leagues. When it comes to all T20s Moeen has played 287 games and hit 5851 runs and picked up 193 wickets.

When it came to him getting a send-off, Moeen said, the England side gave him a fitting farewell and he said it was very gracious of Stuart Broad to ask him to walk alongside him. Broad finished his career with 604 wickets in Test Cricket for England and took the last two scalps for England at the Oval in his farewell game.
