The national skipper of Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi captain in PSL, Babar Azam has recently come up with a response to the blunt statement; that Mohammad Amir delivered about the former ahead of the PSL clash between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing edition of Pakistan’s famous franchise tournament.
"On the field, it's the game of bat and ball. And you always try to put your best foot forward. I try to only focus on my batting, not on other things that can divert my attention because then, it affects me. The more simple I keep it, the more it's good for me,” said Babar Azam to Cricket Pakistan.
I don't think I reacted in any way that time - Babar Azam on Mohammad Amir's statement
"I don't think I reacted in any way that time, I kept it quite simple. You can show aggression, mine comes through batting," he added later on clash with the former ace speedster.
Earlier, Mohammad Amir ignited a controversy with his statement on Babar Azam by comparing the latter to either the tailender or a number 10 batter.
"My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same," said Amir to ARY News.
Speaking of Babar Azam’s outing in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League, he has guided Zalmi to two wins in the three matches they played so far. Apart from that, the 28-year-old has scored 96 runs in 3 matches with a very decent batting average of 32.
Whereas, Babar’s previous team Karachi Kings has had a very miserable season so far in the PSL 2023. They have won only one of the four matches they appeared in, so far. Notably, Babar had been a part of the Kings for five years from 2017 to 2022, and also led the team in the last few years of his stint.
