Bowlers were not up to mark as they gave away 20-25 runs: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers failed to get going against Punjab Kings. This ended up hurting the side, and they lost the game by 34 runs. Virat Kohli's innings was mainly laboured as he could score 35 runs off 34 deliveries. The RCB captain accepted that the bowlers were not up to the mark. The RCB bowling unit gave away 20-25 runs extra towards the end and paved the way for Punjab to post a massive total on the board. Virat also held the batsmen responsible for the team's poor show and stated that partnerships were needed to chase down the target of 180 runs.

RCB batting order disappointed in the run-chase as Virat Kohli scored 35 off 34, whereas Rajat Patidar, who was sent at no.3, also batted slowly. He scored 31 runs off 30 balls. The likes of Glenn Maxwell (0) and Ab de Villiers (3) also failed to perform with the bat. Their poor show with the bat saw the RCB top and middle-order suffered a dramatic collapse.

RCB, who had won their first four games on the trot in the ongoing season, have now lost two of their last three matches. The side is currently sitting at the third spot on the points table with 10 points from seven games. RCB will now be eager to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Eoin Morgan and the team in their next match on Monday (May 03). Despite their latest defeat, Bangalore remains in a solid situation to qualify for the playoffs considering the impressive start to the season.
