Legendary Indian batter, Yuvraj Singh said that during the initial years of his career, it was not easy for the young cricketer to indulge with senior players in the team. The veteran star made his international debut under the leadership of Saurav Ganguly. At that time, he shared the dressing room with big names such as Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, and VVS Laxman to name a few.

At a recent event in Mumbai for the launch of South Africa’s new franchise league SA 20, Singh opened up on how it was difficult to interact with senior players during the initial years of his career.

“After 20 years, I still have to be careful about what I say in front of him (Kumble). I think it was a bit of a shock, to be honest. There's Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Tendulkar, and the likes of Ganguly (in the dressing room),” said Yuvraj at a Viacom18 Sports event in Mumbai for the launch of South Africa's new franchise league SA20.

Yuvraj Singh, further, credited the Indian T20 League for making the younger players feel more comfortable around big stars.

"There are all these guys you're watching on television as a kid and straightaway, you were in the dressing room with them. You had to ask the coach to not be seated next to them. The coach used to say they're your teammates so you have to sit next to them. So, it took a while to start talking to them. But what the IPL has done is that the youngsters are now more comfortable around the players," he said.

Yuvraj Singh made his debut when the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly, and Dravid had already become huge stars for their country. He made a truckload of runs and also went on to become a household name in Indian Cricket.

He was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Series’ at the 2011 World Cup. In his illustrious career, Singh scored 8701 runs in 304 matches at an average of 36.5.
