The renowned football expert Alan Shearer came up with some harsh words while criticizing Liverpool’s transfer strategy to land the star Brighton midfielder Moisés Caicedo in the new transfer bid.  Shearer felt that they should be embarrassed owing to their plans and strategies while settling the transfer bid with Brighton.

Now, the 21-year-old is all set to be a part of Chelsea in a newly-signed 8-year contract till 2031. The contract signing got completed yesterday on August 14. Earlier, Liverpool came up with a record transfer amount of 111 million euros, on which Caicedo’s former club agreed initially. But it was Chelsea who brought a twist to the story with an amount of 115 million euros.

"All of a sudden, the player has said 'No thanks, I don't fancy coming to you." - Alan Shearer on the transfer strategy of Liverpool

Alan Shearer highlighted the same fact as the Reds failed to sign the Ecuador international and he moved to Chelsea, with his club accepting the bid of 115 million euros, four more than Liverpool introduced.

"It’s pretty embarrassing for Liverpool if that is the case. They’ve agreed on a deal for £111m and then, all of a sudden, the player has said 'No thanks, I don’t fancy coming to you, I’m going to London instead,” said Shearer to The Rest is Football podcast this weekend.

"That is not a good look for Liverpool. You have to do your homework and your due diligence and make sure players want to join before agreeing on deals for them,” he added later.

Apart from the ‘Caicedo’ blow for Liverpool, they are also in a conundrum and fearing losing a potential deal with the star Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. In a piece of disappointing news for The Reds, Lavia is also set to join the same club of The Blues, which recently landed Moises Caicedo in their squad.

Speaking of Caicedo, he had played 53 matches for Brighton and Hove Albion after appearing 14 and 31 matches for Beerschot V.A and Independiente del Valle, respectively.
