The Pakistan cricket team was embroiled in a string of controversies before the Cricket Governing Body announced the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup. It all started when the Indian Cricket Board refused to allow their men to tour Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was forced to propose a hybrid model of hosting and they even threatened to boycott the 2023 World Cup.

However, things somehow calmed down with Pakistan confirming its participation in the quadrennial event, and now they are in India after seven years. Former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja was one of those who raised his voice against India's refusal to play in Pakistan. The former Pakistan cricketer had made it clear during his tenure that the Men in Green would not visit India unless they travelled to Pakistan for the continental event.

Meanwhile, Ramiz is currently touring India as one of the commentators for the upcoming World Cup. The 61-year-old's inability to stick to his words did not please former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria. The right-arm leg-spinner launched a scathing attack on Ramiz, saying he should have turned down the commentating offer.

"Ramiz Raja said Pakistan won't travel to India for the World Cup, but he himself is doing commentary in India for money. He had made some bold claims. I believe when you make such statements, you should stick to your words. It is a matter of self-respect. If he had said that Pakistan wouldn't go to India, he should have rejected the offer to do commentary. I didn't like this U-turn," Kaneria said in his latest YouTube video.

It was a very wonderful gesture: Kaneria on the warm reception Pakistan team received in Hyderabad

Babar Azam and Co. received a rousing welcome from a large crowd of fans upon their arrival at the Hyderabad airport. The PCB and some Pakistani players, including captain Babar, expressed their happiness at the hospitality of the Indians. Speaking about the same, Kaneria said that it is a wonderful gesture from India and it is part of their culture.

"Pakistan received a very warm welcome in India. This is our Hindu culture, and we believe in Atithi Devo Bhava. Whenever someone comes to our land, we always welcome them with open arms. We saw how fans were chanting for the likes of Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. It was a very wonderful gesture," Kaneria said.
