Ishan Kishan is one of the most exciting young cricketers on the Indian circuit. Hailed for his fearless batting approach, the southpaw has been a constant figure in the Indian limited-over squad off late. He was selected for the ODI series against Zimbabwe and made it to the starting XI in the first ODI being played at the Harare Sports Club on August 18 (Thursday).

India won the toss and skipper KL Rahul put Zimbabwe to bat. Deepak Chahar was one of the notable mentions who was making a comeback to the Indian team.

Before the start of play, the teams lined up for the national anthem. During the national anthems of both teams, Ishan Kishan was found distracted. It was seen that there was a little bug attacking Kishan. The bug was coming dangerously close to the southpaw and the cricketer was found evading the bug as if he was ducking from a sharp bouncer bowled at him.

A video of the incident was posted by a user on Instagram, wherein Kishan can be seen standing alongside Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav as he was singing the national anthem. The user captioned this post ‘Ishan Kishan attacked by a bug’. The chinaman bowler did not pay any attention to Kishan as he was singing the national anthem.

Ishan Kishan was given an opportunity in the middle order in this match. The left-handed batter will be itching to make a mark and lead his side to victory.  It must be noted that this is Ishan Kishan's first international match after not being included in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 Asia Cup 2022.

Despite not making the cut for the multi-nation tournament, Kishan has stayed positive and told that he will work harder. The dashing cricketer was also second in the list of the highest run-getters for India in the T20I format this year having scored 430 runs in 14 matches at a decent strike rate of 130.30.

“I feel that what selectors do is fair. They put a lot of thought while selecting players as to who should be given the opportunity and where. It is a positive for me because if I am not selected, I will work harder and score more runs. When selectors will have confidence in me, they will obviously keep me in the team,” said Kishan.
