New Update
Mohammed Siraj

According to recent news, Mohammed Siraj, the Indian Team's premier pace spearhead, would sit out the forthcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Notably, the first ODI between the two sides will take place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, today. Returning to Siraj, he participated in the recently finished two-match Test series for Team India.

Siraj also won the ‘Player of the Match in the second Test of the series. Meanwhile, in his absence from the ODIs, Shardul Thakur will be the most experienced bowler for India in white-ball cricket with 50 wickets in 35 ODIs. Thakur could be accompanied by any two pacers from the trio of Umran Malik, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mukesh Kumar.

Team India considering star all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their bowling option

Amidst all this, management’s decision of giving rest to Mohammed Siraj did not go well for the Indian cricket fans. They took to Twitter and expressed their disappointment with this decision as the ODI World Cup 2023 is approaching.

Talking about Siraj’s appearance in ODI cricket, he played his last ODI match for India in March 2023 earlier this year. He has the highest number of wickets for India in the ODIs since the start of 2022.

Apart from relying on Shardul Thakur, Team India might also look ahead to go with star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in bowling. He could give a crucial contribution in bowling a few important overs for the team.

Here’s a look at the updated squad of India for the three-match ODI series against West Indies:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, and Mukesh Kumar.

Following the conclusion of the ODIs against West Indies, Siraj might be in action with Team India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.
