Team India are currently busy playing the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. As of now, they have won two out of three games. However, after the World Cup, India will visit New Zealand and Bangladesh respectively for two tours. In New Zealand, India will play three T20Is and three ODIs.

On the other hand, India will visit Bangladesh to play three ODIs and two tests. So, on 31 October 2022, Indian selectors announced the squads for both the New Zealand and Zimbabwe tours. But, fans were not happy as they did not find some deserving candidates’ names in the final squad.

Here are five players who missed India's squads for both tours despite being deserving candidates:

Prithvi Shaw

Fans were waiting to see the name of this batter in the squads for the tour of New Zealand. Recently, Prithvi Shaw has shown great form with his bat in domestic tournaments. Prithvi Shaw scored a quickfire ton off 88 balls only in the second inning of the Duleep Trophy Semi-final. Then, he is showing that form again in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Shaw has played seven matches so far in the tournament. He has managed 285 runs so far at an average of 47.50. He has batted at a staggering strike rate of 191.27. But, selectors did not consider him for the T20I series in New Zealand. Shaw also came up with a cryptic story on his Instagram account after the squad announcement.

Sarfaraz Khan

This batter has enjoyed a great domestic season so far for his respective teams. In the final of the Ranji Trophy against Madhya Pradesh, Sarfaraz Khan scored 134 runs off 243 deliveries. After that inning, he scored 937 runs in eight innings at an average of 133.85, including four centuries.

In last year’s Ranji season, he scored 928 runs in nine innings at an average of 154.66, including three centuries. Against Saurashtra in the Irani Cup, he smashed a ton. So, fans were hoping to see him in the squad for the Test series in Bangladesh. But, again, selectors denied him any spot for that series.

Ravi Bishnoi

This spinner is another player who missed the squads, unfortunately. In recent opportunities, Ravi Bishnoi has always come up with some big performance. He managed to take eight wickets in three T20I matches in West Indies. Then, in Asia Cup 2022, Bishnoi took one wicket against Pakistan by conceding only 26 runs.

In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Bishnoi has managed to take seven wickets in five matches so far. Still, he failed to impress the Indian selectors as they did not pick him up for the tors of New Zealand and Bangladesh. Like Prithvi Shaw, he also came up with a cryptic story on his Instagram account after the squad announcement.

Nitish Rana

This batter also missed a chance to represent India once again in the upcoming New Zealand and Bangladesh tours. Currently, Nitish Rana is busy playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his Delhi state. However, he has managed to score 317 runs in eight matches so far at an average of 45.28.

Rana has scored those runs at a strike rate of 139.03. So, both the fans and the player himself were expecting a call to the Indian team. But, again, selectors went with other players over this batter. he also came up with a cryptic story on his Instagram account after the squad announcement.

Venkatesh Iyer

This batter from the Kolkata franchise of the Indian T20 League has also enjoyed a great Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy so far. However, he is currently out of action due to an injury. In four matches, Venkatesh Iyer has scored 189 runs, at an average of 63. He batted at a staggering strike rate of 161.53.

Iyer also shone with the ball as he took six wickets in a match. So, fans were hoping to see him in the Indian squad. But, due to the injury may be, selectors did not consider him for the tour in New Zealand. He can be a good option for team India due to his all-round ability with both the bat and the ball.
