Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals locked horns in the 20th match of the ongoing CPL 2023. Both teams played this match at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The visiting skipper Rovman Powell won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Trinbago Knight Riders posted a massive total of 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Star number 3 batter Nicholas Pooran shone once again and smashed a brilliant century; he scored 102 runs off just 53 balls with 5 boundaries and 10 sixes. Other than him, Martin Guptill and Andre Russell also contributed with the knocks of 37 and 39 runs, respectively.

The veteran all-rounder Jason Holder scalped two wickets for the Royals, alongside one wicket each picked by Kyle Mayers, Qais Ahmad, and Rahkeem Cornwall.

While chasing the target, the Royals got a shaky start as they lost their first wicket only on the score of 13 runs in the third over. Furthermore, the star opener Kyle Mayers played a struggling knock of 70 runs off 45 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes with the bat. Although his knock went in vain as the visitors lost the match by 42 runs after getting restricted to the score of only 166 runs for the loss 7 wickets in the entire 20 overs.

Akeal Hosein and Waqar Salamkheil scalped two wickets each, alongside one wicket each claimed by Ali Khan, Andre Russell, and star leg spinner Sunil Narine.

Nicholas Pooran won the ‘Player of the Match award for his sensational match-defining knock of 102 runs in favour of the hosts.

Now, the Knight Riders will lock horns with Jamaica Tallawahs in the 22nd match of the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League 2023.
