Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians locked horns in the 16th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League in Delhi. Both teams played five games combined and were yet to register their maiden wins this season. Meanwhile, in this game, the visitors, Mumbai won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision proved wrong initially as the home team amassed 51/1, losing the wicket of Prithvi Shaw.

However, in the middle overs, the MI bowlers recovered well and took wickets at regular intervals. On the other hand, DC skipper David Warner's struggle while scoring fifties continued in the ongoing game too. In this game, 2022 U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull made his debut. However, he couldn't make the most of his opportunity and got out cheaply. Meanwhile, thanks to MI bowlers, DC was reduced to 98/5.

At this stage, Axar Patel and Warner put together 67 runs for the sixth wicket with the former doing the most of the damage. Patel scored 54 off just 25 balls including four fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Warner scored 51 off 47 balls including six fours. Patel's innings helped the team reach 172 all-out in 19.4 overs.

For the former champions, Jason Behrendorff and Piyush Chawla took three wickets each. On the other hand, Riley Meredith took two, and Hrithik Shokeen took one.

Rohit Sharma leads Mumbai Indians to win despite hiccups

In reply, the five-time winners got a great start from their skippers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Both put together 71 runs in just 7.3 overs. The latter started well but eventually slowed down and then got run out after scoring 31 off 26 balls. On the other hand, the India and MI skipper continued doing well with the bat, leaving behind his poor run of form.

After the wicket of Kishan, Sharma was well supported by youngster Tilal Varma at the other end. The uncapped Indian, Varma (41) got out to Mukesh Kumar but the game was in the bag for the Rohit Sharma-led side. However, his wicket led to a mini-collapse. In the end, the likes of Tim David and Cameron Green helped the team win the game by six wickets on the last ball of the game.
