India and Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel provided a massive momentum shift to his side in the ongoing game against Mumbai Indians. In the 16th game between the 2020 finalists, the five-time winners, MI won the toss and bowled first. The decision was proved right as their bowlers were picking regular wickets despite getting in the powerplay. During the field restrictions, the home team, Delhi scored 51/1.

However, in the middle overs, the India national-capital-based side lost four wickets and was reduced to 98/5 in 12.3 overs. Their skipper David Warner's struggles with his scoring rate continued in the ongoing game too. However, in-form Patel, who has been scoring plenty of runs since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, hit 54 off 25 balls including four fours and five sixes.

He and Warner put together 67 runs for the sixth wicket with Patel doing the heavy lifting. His innings helped the team reach 172 all-out with the lower-middle order and tailenders getting out on single-digit scores. For the former champions, MI, Piyush Chawla, and Jason Behrendorff took three wickets each. At the time of writing, Mumbai Indians have scored 14 in the first over in pursuit of 173 runs.
