The game of cricket has always had a special place in the hearts of the people of both India and Pakistan. The rivalry between the two nations is not just limited to politics but also reflects on the cricket pitch. However, despite being two of the biggest cricketing nations in the world, India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012 due to political tensions.
In a heartfelt appeal to Jay Shah, Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, a Pakistan cricket journalist by the name of Farid Khan has expressed the desire of the cricketing fraternity of Pakistan to play cricket matches against India. The journalist highlighted the fact that cricket is not just a game, but also a medium to promote peace and unity between the two countries. The journalist also spoke about the sacrifices that Pakistan cricket has made over the years, including not hosting any Test matches in the country for 10 years.

We are a peace loving, cricket nation and we want to play cricket matches against India. We have suffered to an extent that for 10 years, we could not host Test matches in our country and we know the importance of proving state security. We do that to every… pic.twitter.com/i1zaKpJ2pf
Khan also emphasized that sports and politics should not be mixed and that sportsmen have always acted as ambassadors and bridges between the two countries. The journalist requested Jay Shah to take the matter of Asia Cup hosting rights positively and assured him that the PCB has even offered a hybrid model where other teams can play their matches in Pakistan and India can play at a neutral venue. The journalist also requested assurances to travel to India for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The appeal made by the Pakistan cricket journalist is not just an emotional one, but also a pragmatic one. It is high time that the two nations put aside their political differences and focus on the game of cricket. Cricket has the power to bring people together, and it is time that this power is harnessed to promote peace and unity between the two nations.
The journalist also highlighted the fact that cricket fans in both countries are eagerly waiting for the resumption of cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. The journalist spoke about the immense love that Pakistani cricketers have received in India and how Indian cricketers have been treated with warmth and hospitality in Pakistan.
The appeal made by the Pakistan cricket journalist is a reminder that cricket is not just a game, but also a medium to promote peace and unity between the two nations. It is high time that the two nations come together to revive the cricketing ties between them and allow the fans to witness the magic of India-Pakistan matches once again.
The Twitter post has garnered much attention with users from Pakistan as well as India gathering in the comment section to let their views known on the matter.

Farid, as a neutral supporter (Aussie, don’t hold it against me!) the recent game at the MCG between the two teams was an absolute highlight. I too hope there are many more of these exciting games in the future. The rest of the cricketing world hopes it gets worked out.

There were other cricket fans however who were not so moved by the post and shed light on the actual issues that persist beyond the sport:
This is something worth appreciating..being very genuine farid bhai tell me have ever seen a news channel in India who makes fun of pakistani legend’s..We don’t make fun of babar,rizwan..but in your country there are few podcast in which pakistani players come and make mockery
— lifeiswild (@apoorv_003) May 9, 2023
Dear @_FaridKhan, it’s a very touching note and believe me that most fans in India want the sides to play regularly. You got a superb young side and even now, players like Babar, Shaheen, Haris, Shadab, etc. are adored here.

BCCI as a body has nothing to do with the decision…
I am sorry Farid, But from when has Pakistan become a peace loving country? Have we started kargil?, why were there 26/11? We love this beautiful sport, but we prioritise our nation first. Why do we need to have any relations with a country who continuously strike on India’s…

I agree with what you are saying as a Cricket Fan but Players safety comes fast,
— CMA Monesh (@Cmamonesh) May 9, 2023
I don't think it will resolve in the near future as there are a lot of security problems, if I am not wrong even Prime Minister Imran Khan got shot in public.
They have a lot to do with politics. You can beg as much as you like. But only India matters to us nothing else. Ro le corner maine jake 😁😁 pic.twitter.com/go16j0nZ5L
