In a recent piece of news for Indian cricket fans, the Indian Cricket Board has got a new broadcaster as an emerging digital platform buys the media rights of India’s home international matches for the next five years till 2028. The e-auction for the media rights of the Indian Cricket Board took place on Thursday, August 31.

Notably, the new broadcaster has bought both the TV and digital streaming rights of the matches to be played in India for the next half of the decade. Sports18 will be broadcasting the matches live on television whereas the matches will be telecasted live digitally by the OTT platform JioCinema.

India Cricket will continue to grow in both spaces as after IPL and WPL T20, we extend the partnership, Indian Cricket Board Media Rights as well. Together we will continue to capture the imagination of Indian cricket fans,” read the tweets posted by Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay from his official X handle.

“Also, a big thank you to Star India and Disney Plus Hotstar for your support over the years. You played a key role in making India Cricket reach its fans across the globe,” he added further in his tweet.

The first home assignment of India in the next five-year cycle will be against Australia; the Men in Blue will play the three-match T20I series against the Aussies followed by a three-match ODI series before heading to the ODI World Cup 2023. Currently, they are in Sri Lanka to participate in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma’s men will start their campaign in the tournament with the first match against the arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The matches of the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 will be telecasted on Star Sports and Disney Plus Hotstar.
