Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter AB de Villiers considers star India batter Virat Kohli to be the perfect player for India to bat at No.4 for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup later this year. Previously former India head coach Ravi Shashtri also revealed that he wanted the former India skipper at No 4 in the 2019 ODI World Cup and said if needed he can do that in this World Cup as well.

Kohli's record at No. 4 is pretty good. In 39 innings, he has scored 1767 runs at an average of 55.21 and a strike rate of 90.66. He has scored 7 hundred batting at that position. He last batted there over three years ago, in an ODI against Australia in Mumbai. De Villiers didn't explain the reasons behind his suggestion but did mention Kohli's ability to build and control the innings.

I've heard some rumours about Virat possibly taking up that position: AB de Villiers

Talking on his YouTube channel, "We're still talking about who will be the No. 4 batter for India. I've heard some rumours about Virat possibly taking up that position. I would be a big supporter of that." "I think Virat is perfect for No. 4. He can put the innings together, play any kind of role in that middle order. I don't know if he would like to do that. We know he loves his No. 3 position; he's scored all his runs there, but at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something, play a certain role, you have got to put your hand up and got for it."

With the recovery of wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, the problem for India's middle order might have been solved. Though Rahul has a bit of "niggle" confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board chief selector Ajit Agarkar, in the press conference. It is likely Ishan Kishan might drop into the top three, there are chances that Kohli might drop down to No 4.

India will face Pakistan in their Asia Cup opener on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
