India under the captaincy of star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah are taking on Ireland in the ongoing three-match T20I series in Ireland. The men in blue started the series with a close win of 2 runs by the DL/S method in the first T20I of the three-match series, played at the Malahide Cricket Stadium in Dublin.

Now, both teams are set to lock horns in the second T20I of the series on Sunday, the 20th of August in Dublin. Meanwhile, recent media reports have also learned that Jasprit Bumrah will be giving a hard time to star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in contention for the vice-captaincy of Team India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah appears to be a strong contender to become vice-captain of the Indian team, alongside all-rounder Hardik Pandya, for the upcoming Asia Cup as well as ODI World Cup, starting October 5,” reads a report by PTI.

India lost T20I series against West Indies under Hardik Pandya's captaincy

Notably, Hardik Pandya led the Indian team in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against West Indies, in West Indies. The visitors faced a defeat of 2-3 in the T20I series and the stand-in skipper Pandya is under the scanner since then.

Following the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series against Ireland, Team India will be in action in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The team will be playing with the regular skipper Rohit Sharma, alongside former skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli in the 16th edition of the continental championship.

Asia Cup 2023 followed by the home white-ball series against Australia will be the preparatory assignments for Team India in ODI format to get themselves ready for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
