India suffered a 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their first match of the Super Four stage on Sunday. Having won against them in Asia Cup earlier, the fans were expecting the Men in Blue to replicate a similar result. However, Pakistan didn’t let that happen twice as they chased down a target of 182 runs in 19.5 overs.

After being asked to bat first, India did well to notch 181 runs in the first innings. The bowling unit, however, failed to defend that and handed Pakistan a morale-boosting win. Mohammad Rizwan’s 71 off 51 and Mohammad Nawaz’s 42 off 20 helped Pakistan chase down the score with a ball to spare in the end. Following the defeat, Indian seamer, Arshdeep Singh was at the receiving end of some severe trolling and abuse on social media.

Notably, on the 3rd ball of the 18th over, Singh dropped one of the easiest catches in the game and it proved costly as India lost the game, eventually. Some of the groups of anti-social elements even called him 'Khalistani'. For those who don't know, it is a term used for separatists. However, on the brighter side of it, a lot of fans across the world and the cricketers took to their social media handles to express solidarity with the Indian pacer.

India’s veteran pacer, Mohammed Shami, who himself had to go through such atrocities on social media, also shed light on the Arshdeep Singh’s incident. In an interaction with timesnownews, Shami stated that there is a section of people who have nothing else to do but troll cricketers when they have a bad day on the field.

"They only live to troll us, have no other job. When we perform well they don’t say you took a good catch but will troll us?" said Shami. "Agar dam hai toh real accounts se aaye na, fake account se toh koi bhi msg kar sakta hai (If you have the audacity, then comes from real accounts; anyone can message from fake accounts,).” Shami said.

He further advised Arshdeep Singh to not let the trolling affect him and keep scaling great heights.

"I’ve faced this and it doesn’t affect me because my country stands up for me. I’ll only say to Arshdeep , don’t let this hamper you because your talent is immense," Shami stated.
