On 1 January 2023, the Indian Cricket Board arranged a performance review meeting in Mumbai. This meeting was held to discuss the future steps for improving Indian Cricket and the overall performance review from 2022. Several notable identities were present in that important meeting.
According to an official statement, the Indian Cricket Board said: “The Indian Cricket Board on Sunday convened the review meeting of Team India (Senior Men) in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by the Board President Mr. Roger Binny, Honorary Secretary Mr. Jay Shah, Indian Captain Mr. Rohit Sharma, Team India (Senior Men) Head Coach Mr. Rahul Dravid, Head of Cricket (NCA) Mr. VVS Laxman and Chairman of Senior Men Selection Committee Mr. Chetan Sharma.” As a result of the meeting, the Board made some notable decisions going forward to the 50-over World Cup, especially regarding the fitness of players. They introduced the ‘Dexa’ Test along with a comeback of the Yo-Yo Test for the selection criteria going forward.
Here are the all details about the new ‘Dexa’ Test for team India
Speaking about the Dexa Test, is an imaging test that measures bone density. The full form of Dexa is Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry. This test helps in measuring the bone strength of any person. Even, it will provide information on a potential fracture in the bone. Meanwhile, this test produces two types of beam, one is high energy and the other is low energy.
However, these beams will pass through the bones and thus, all the needed results will come out regarding that person. In 2022, many top players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja got injured. They missed major tournaments like the 20-20 World Cup and Asia Cup. So, VVS Laxman-led National Cricket Academy (NCA) will work with Indian T20 League franchises. They will monitor players’ fitness, especially those who have a history of injuries.
“Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for 2023 World Cup, the NCA will work in tandem with the Indian T20 League Franchisee to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the Indian T20 League 2023,” the Board statement read.
