'Apna pant heera hai heera' - Fans react to Rohit Sharma's 'The way Pant has played in his career - I want him to play like that' statement for Rishabh Pant

The star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been missing from the squad of India for the last almost 9 months. He has not been in action with Team India since his horrific accident in which he sustained multiple injuries including a ligament tear in his right knee which was treated through surgery.

Currently, Pant is going through the recovery phase to make his way back to the Indian team at the highest level of the game. Meanwhile, the regular Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has come up with a special statement for Rishabh Pant. Rohit was in a conversation on Vimal Kumar's YouTube channel where he expressed what he feels for and wants from Rishabh Pant.

“The way Pant has played in his career - I want him to play like that, play with the same approach & mindset. He always backs his game, it is not like he plays one way, he always tells me that I play after understanding the situation of the team,” said Rohit Sharma to Vimal Kumar on the latter’s YouTube channel.

Notably, India is missing Rishabh Pant currently as they are badly in need of an established wicketkeeper-batter who can also finish the match with his abilities in white-ball cricket. But currently, the team is struggling as senior wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is not fully fit and his replacement Ishan Kishan is quite a bit less experienced in comparison to Rishabh Pant.

Rohit Sharma’s men are in action in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, where KL Rahul missed the two matches of Team India; the backup wicketkeeping option Ishan Kishan was included in the playing XI in those two matches. Talking about Pant, his presence in the team can lessen the stress of the management about the middle order and lower middle order of Team India’s batting lineup.

India have also announced their squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in which KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will be the two wicketkeepers for the men in blue.
