India and Australia locked horns in the third and last ODI of the three-match series against Australia at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The visiting skipper Pat Cummins won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first. Batting first, the Aussies posted a big total of 352 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs courtesy of some brilliant performances from their top four batters.
The opening pair of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh built a good partnership of 78 runs for the first wicket in 8.1 overs before Warner fell prey to Prasidh Krishna on the individual score of 56 runs. Mitchell Marsh missed his century by a minor difference of just 4 runs and got dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav at 96 runs, hitting 13 fours and 3 sixes with the willow.
Following these two knocks, the former skipper Steve Smith and the number star number four batter Marnus Labuschagne also contributed with the knocks of 74 and 72 runs, respectively.
The star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah scalped three wickets for India, alongside two wickets picked by Kuldeep Yadav. Other than these two, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna also claimed one wicket each for the hosts.
Middle-order collapse troubles India once again
While chasing the target, India got a stable start of 74 runs for the first wicket before the replacement opener Washington Sundar was dismissed by star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Later, the skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli stitched a partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket.
Rohit Sharma played a quick knock of 81 runs off just 57 balls, hitting 5 fours and 6 sixes followed by Virat Kohli’s 56-run knock, with 5 fours and a six. Other than these two, it was Shreyas Iyer who struggled there amidst the middle-order collapse for India; he scored 48 runs with four and two sixes.
However, India failed to chase down the target and got bundled out on the score of 286 runs in 49.4 overs. Eventually, Australia won the series closer by 66 runs to end up 1-2 in the three-match series. Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell scalped four wickets for Australia, alongside two wickets picked by Josh Hazlewood. Apart from these two, the rest of the Aussie bowlers also claimed one wicket each to help Australia win the match.
Now, both teams will lock horns with each other in their campaign opener of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Hardik is a big reason in middle order stability, he gives you space to play freely, Plus his bowling is much better than prasidh. So India were two batter short Shubhman, and hardik. They would have won it with that team. #INDvsAUS
