After losing against the proteas, team India locked horns with Bangladesh on 2 November 2022 in Adelaide. Both teams came to this encounter after winning two out of their first three matches in the 20-20 World Cup. So, fans were hoping to see a great show as both teams were looking to strengthen their position in the group.

Speaking about the match, Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and asked India to bat first. Several reports were there that India might go with Rishabh Pant over the veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. But, Rohit Sharma made only one change as Deepak Hooda got out of the playing XI. Axar Patel came into the playing XI for the clash.

India defeated Bangladesh by five runs in the 20-20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to open the innings. But, the Indian skipper scored only two runs off eight balls. But, Rahul scored 50 runs off 32 balls, including three fours and four sixes. Along with him, Virat Kohli scored 64* runs off 44 balls, including eight fours and one six. He batted at a strike rate of 145.45. These innings helped India to score 184 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud took three wickets for 47 runs in his four overs. 

In reply, Bangladeshi openers had a blistering start to the chase. In seven overs, they scored 66 runs without losing any wickets. Litton Das scored 60 runs off 27 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Then, the rain came and the match got stopped. After some time the match started again as the match got reduced to 16 overs. Bangladesh got a revised target of 151 runs. But, other batters failed to score big as they managed only 145 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Both Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each in the match. Thus, India won the match by a margin of five runs. Fans also were happy as India almost confirmed their berth in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
