Pakistan captain Babar Azam is often compared with the Indian batting star Virat Kohli. The Pakistan captain has taken giant strides as a batter ever since he made his international debut in 2015. The 27-year-old player replaced Kohli as the no 1 batter in ODI cricket last year.
The rising star has even broken the record of India’s batting great recently for being the number one batter in T20 internationals for the longest period. The duo of Kohli and Babar share great camaraderie between them which was also seen by the cricketing fraternity during the last year’s 20-20 world cup match between India and Pakistan.
The mutual respect shared by the duo was once again on display as Babar came out in support of Kohli who has been going through the worst form of his career. The Pakistan captain took to Twitter on Thursday and posted a photo of him and Kohli with the caption “This too shall pass, stay strong.” The tweet spread like wildfire all across the internet as fans hailed Babar for his sportsmanship.

Revealing the reason behind his Tweet Babar said he knows that a player needs support when he goes through such a phase. "As a player myself, I know you can go through such a phase (out of form) and I also know what a player goes through in such a phase. In those times, you need support. I just tweeted thinking that it will give just some support. He is one of the best players," Babar said during a press conference ahead of Pakistan's first Test against Sri Lanka.
Kohli was once again dismissed cheaply in the second ODI against England at Lord’s on Thursday. The modern batting great could only manage to score 15 as he once again nicked a ball outside the off-stump to the wicketkeeper.
"He is playing a lot of cricket and he knows how to come out of these situations. It takes time, if you back players, it will be really good," Babar added.
The fans are eagerly waiting for Kohli to score his 71st international hundred. The batter has failed to reach three figures since December 2019.
