West Indies vs India

India and West Indies took on each other in the third ODI of the three-match series at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The hosts’ skipper Shai Hope won the toss and asked India to bat first. Batting first, the visitors posted a massive total of 351 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The young opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill shone once again for India and stitched a brilliant partnership of 143 runs for the first wicket. Kishan played an impressive knock of 77 runs off 64 balls with eight fours and three sixes, followed by Shubman Gill’s 85 runs with 11 boundaries.

Apart from these two, skipper Hardik Pandya and star batter Sanju Samson also contributed with individual scores of 70 and 51 runs, respectively. Suryakumar Yadav also played a short but crucial knock of 35 runs to help India reach a total of 351 runs in 50 overs. Romario Shepherd scalped two wickets for West Indies, alongside one wicket each picked by Alazarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Yannic Cariah.

Mukesh Kumar, Shardul Thakur topple West Indies' batting to seal it for India

During the chase, the Indian bowlers completely outmuscled the West Indies batters and bundled them up for 151 runs, winning the match by a mammoth margin of 200 runs. Shardul Thakur and Mukesh Kumar scalped 4 and 3 wickets, respectively. Apart from them, Jaydev Unadkat and Kuldeep Yadav also claimed 1 and 2 wickets to play a vital role in India’s convincing victory.

With this sensational win in the series decider, India also clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1 to keep their 17-year dominance unbeaten in the Caribbean. It was in 2006 when West Indies won an ODI series against India; on that tour, the Men in Blue lost to the hosts 1-4 under the captaincy of former skipper and current head coach, Rahul Dravid.

Returning back to the outstanding win in the third ODI, the fans were also overjoyed following the performance of Team India after an embarrassing loss in the second ODI. Fans took to Twitter to come up with a lot of contrasting reactions including memes and trolls.
