To get closer to the IPL 2023 playoffs, the Chennai Super Kings delivered yet another polished effort against the Delhi Capitals on Wednesday at the Chepauk Stadium. To be named Player of the Match, Ravindra Jadeja put on an incredible performance with both the bat and the ball. The 34-year-old helped CSK upset DC by 27 runs while taking one wicket and scoring 21 runs in 16 deliveries.

Since recovering from his injury, MS Dhoni has been the crowd favourite and has stepped out to bat in the latter stages of games, acting as a finisher. Jadeja, an all-rounder, has been batting well ever since.

'As long as the team wins, I am happy' โ€“ Ravindra Jadeja

When asked about batting higher, Jadeja responded that he hears MS Dhoni shouts from the CSK fans when he walks out to bat at number 7, and if he were to bat higher, then they could start praying that he gets out early to see 'Thala' doing what he does best. "I keep hearing Mahi bhai's chants. If I bat higher, then the crowd will wait for me to get out. As long as the team wins, I am happy," replied Jadeja while speaking in the post-match presentation.

The four-time IPL champions bowled with precision against David Warner and company. After winning the toss, Dhoni chose to bat first, and CSK scored 167/8 in 20 overs. Before the bowlers did their jobs and held Delhi to a score of 140/8, six Yellow Army batters combined for twenty-odd runs to assist their team in reaching a fight-worthy total. Matheesha Pathirana was again the best bowler, taking three wickets against Deepak Chahar's two.

Jadeja discussed how CSK bowlers chose the right areas to bowl because they were familiar with the Chepauk conditions, which they took advantage of when Delhi batted. "As a spinner, feels good when the ball is turning and holding. We practise here; we know what's the ideal length and pace. The visiting team needs time to adapt. We are taking advantage of the home conditions. Everyone's doing their job. We are doing a good job collectively," added the all-rounder.
