Royal Challengers Bangalore faced a massive 81-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in their second match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. Meanwhile, the red outfits had also faced some early blows as the senior pacer Reece Topley was ruled out of the entire season due to an injury.

Apart from him, the young batting sensation from Madhya Pradesh, Rajat Patidar was excluded from the tournament due to an injury.

In a recent turnaround of events, RCB have signed in Wayne Parnell and star Karnataka bowler Vyshak Vijay for the remainder of the tournament. The duo will replace Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar in the squad.

Talking about the entire action of the match, the visitors’ skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. Batting first, Nitish Rana’s men posted a big total of 204 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Thanks to the swashbuckling knock of 68 runs off just 29 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes by star all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Other than him, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rinku also played the knocks of 57 and 46 runs respectively.

Later on, while defending the target, the spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma completely outmuscled the RCB batting lineup and bundled them up with only a score of 123 runs. Now, Shahrukh Khan-owned KKR will face Gujarat Titans in their third match of the season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
