BCCI has recently nominated former Gujarat DGP Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala as the chief of the Anti-Corruption Unit. He is going to replace Ajit Singh, who served in the same position from April 2018 to March 2021. However, Ajit Singh has reportedly stated that he will still be with the BCCI for a while to allow Khandwawala to fit into his new role perfectly. And now, Gujarat’s DGP Khandawala has opened up on his appointment. He reckoned that it is an honour to be associated with the BCCI and further added that it is the best cricket body in the world. He also disclosed that besides his expertise in security matters, it is his love for the game that would help him in his current role.
I want to congratulate my predecessor for doing a great job: Khandawala
Khandwawala mentioned that he wanted to congratulate his predecessor for doing a great job in keeping Indian cricket clean during his occupancy. Khandawala has a prominent job resume. He was the advisor of the Essar Group for ten years and is a retired Director General of Police (DGP) as well. Apart from that, Khandwawala was also an essential part of the Lokpal Search Committee, which was designated by the Central Government.
Former Gujarat DGP Shabir Khandwawala will be heading to Chennai on 7th April 2021, ahead of the 14th edition of the IPL. He had also attended the final ODI game between England and India last month to get an idea of how things work on the board. The tournament is going to commence on 9th April 2021. The inaugural match of the 2021 season of the IPL will take place between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (IPL) in the city of Chennai.
The 2021 Indian Premier League will conclude on 30th May 2021. Each IPL team is going to play at four different locations during the league stage. Notably, every IPL game will take place at a neutral venue, with no franchise scheduled to play in their home ground. Out of the 56 league games, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will host ten IPL matches each, whereas Ahmedabad and Delhi will conduct eight games each.
