What has come out as a shocking news amidst positive mood going into the Commonwealth Games 2022 is Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain’s accusation of mental harassment from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI).

Lovlina took to Twitter and vented out her frustration on how the Boxing Federation is hampering her preparation by changing coaches. She alleged that The BFI sent her one coach back home while the other is being denied entry into the Commonwealth Games Village. Lovlina also claimed that her training has been halted just eight days before the start of the CWG 2022.

Taking to Twitter, the Olympic medalist made a big statement.

"Today with great sorrow I want to reveal that harassment is going on with me. The coaches who helped me win the Olympic medal were removed which hindered my training process. One of the coaches is Sandhya Gurungji, who is a Dronacharya awardee. Both of my coaches have to plead to be included in the training camp and they are added quite late," Lovlina said in her tweet.

"I have to face a lot of issues in these training camps and this causes mental harassment as well. Right now my coach Sandhya Gurungji is outside Commonwealth Village and she is not getting entry. My training process was stopped eight days ahead of the Games”, continued the boxer.

"My second coach has been sent back to India. In spite of requesting so much I had to face mental harassment. I don't understand how should I focus on the Games as due to this my last World Championships was also spoiled. But I don't want to spoil my CWG because of this politics. I hope I can break this politics for my country and bring a medal as well," Lovlina added.

Lovlina Borgohain earned a CWG 2022 berth by beating Railways Pooja by a dominative 7-0 margin in June. She wrote her name into the history books with a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 69kgs. Lovlina is only the third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to achieve this feat.

A statement by the Boxing Federation of India is yet to be made on the allegation.
