Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently spoke about former skipper and batting superstar, Virat Kohli when he recalled India's famous win over Pakistan in the thrilling encounter during the T20 World Cup 2022. Ashwin recalled how he felt while coming out to bat in the historic nerve-jangler of a match between the arch-rivals.

Notably, it was none other than Ashwin who scored the winning runs for India to pull off a close, yet enthralling, win against Pakistan. "When I walked at the MCG, I realized the enormity of what I was getting into. I haven't witnessed such an atmosphere and crowd ever. When I looked at Virat Kohli, his eyes seemed like he was possessed and he is on a different planet,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by Cricket Governing Body.

Subsequently, several fans saw the funny side of Ashwin’s statement while others were reminded of the ebbs and flows and the emotions that they went through during the match.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of what was a match for the ages, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked the Men in Green to bat first. Pakistan coped two early blows and lost both their openers, Mohammad Rizwan and skipper Babar Azam off young pacer Arshdeep Singh before the fourth over of the first innings.

Later on, Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed went on to contribute with half-century knocks of 52 and 51 respectively. These knocks, followed by Shaheen Shah Afridi’s quick cameo of 16 runs off just 8 balls, helped Pakistan reach a respectable total of 159 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

While chasing the target, India were in serious trouble when they lost four wickets for only 41 runs in 6.1 overs. It was at that moment when former skipper Virat Kohli and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya took charge for India. The duo stitched a valuable partnership of 113 runs for the fifth wicket and put India back in the mix. Kohli played a match-winning knock of 82 off 53 balls alongside Pandya’s 40 off 37 balls to take India over the line and win the game by four wickets.
