Pakistan are currently busy playing the ongoing home Test series against the Kiwis. While team India are busy playing the home T20I series against Sri Lanka. However, the mega event of this year is the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Before that, Pakistan will host the 2023 Asia Cup in the 50-over format.
But, before the, 20-20 World Cup 2022, the Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah said that India will not visit Pakistan. The president of the Asian Cricket Council also added that the tournament will happen in a neutral venue. Regarding that, the former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said that if India do not come to Pakistan, then they will go to India to play in the World Cup.
Fans slammed Najam Sethi for his tweet towards Jay Shah
However, after losing to England in the home Test series, PCB sacked Ramiz Raja. Najam Sethi became the new Chairman of the Board. But, on 5 January, Jay Shah shared a tweet where he shared all the schedules of Asian Cricket in 2023 and 2024. The caption in the tweet reads: “Presenting the @ACCMedia1 pathway structure & cricket calendars for 2023 & 2024! This signals our unparalleled efforts & passion to take this game to new heights. With cricketers across countries gearing up for spectacular performances, it promises to be a good time for cricket!” However, Najam Sethi did not like that approach at all.
Hence, the new PCB Chairman came up and took a dig at Jay Shah on Twitter. He wrote: “Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present the structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated.” He blamed Shah for sharing the pathway structure without any consultation with them as they are the host of the Asia Cup this year. The shared structure didn't go into host details for this year's Asia Cup but included all continental tournaments. Only a September window has been provided for the tournament.
Here is the shared tweet:
