Team India are currently busy playing the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. However, the home side have won the series already by winning the first two matches. Now, they will face each other once again on 10 December 2022. After the 20-20 World Cup, it is India’s second away tour.
First, they went to New Zealand to play a T20I and an ODI series. Umran Malik was a part of that squad and made his ODI debut in the first match of the series against the Kiwis. In that series, Umran managed to take three wickets in three matches. Then, he again played the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

In that match, Umran took two wickets for 58 runs in 10 overs. During the New Zealand tour, Umran Malik said that he has been working on his line, length, and variations to improve himself. He said: “I am working on developing new deliveries. Like, I am working on slowers and yorkers for T20s. Also, I am working very well on pitching good length and hard length balls. I am enjoying a lot by working alongside the coaches and feels really good. When I am playing for India, it is national duty and have to do well. If I do well, will stay here in the team for long. I just want to play long for India and perform well."
Now, before that second ODI in Mirpur, the former Indian legend, Sunil Gavaskar came up with a huge statement. While speaking on SonyLIV, he said: “One player I am most excited to see playing for India after Sachin Tendulkar is Umran Malik.” It was a massive statement from Gavaskar as Sachin Tendulkar was a legend of this game.
