The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan kicked off at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium during the 2023 Asia Cup on Saturday, September 2nd. The game commenced amidst cloudy skies, accompanied by intermittent rain that had a noticeable impact on India's batting performance. The Indian top-order crumbled under the pressure, resembling a house of cards collapsing. At a certain point in the match, the Indian team found themselves in dire straits at 66/4, as they struggled to contend with the aggressive fast bowling delivered by the Pakistani bowlers.
But when things were looking gloomy for the Indian team Ishan Kishan joined hands with Hardik Pandya to script a famous Indian fightback with both the batters complementing each other and scoring freely. The duo put together a brilliant partnership of 138 runs and took the Indian team from reeling at one stage from 66/4 to a score of 204 runs so that the Indian team could put a formidable total on the board.
But after the dismissal of the left-hand batter, at one stage when the Indians were looking for a string finish, the wicket of Hardik spoiled the plans for the Indian team. In a game where the Indian top-order batting was exposed to some hostile fast bowling from the Pakistan team, the Indian team somehow managed to crawl their way to a total of 266 runs which will be a good total considering that the pitch has a lot to offer for the fast bowling and India team has four fast bowling options in the team.
Shaheen Shah Afridi shines with four wickets
Shaheen Afridi capitalized on favorable overcast conditions, dismissing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match. He first bowled out Sharma with a sharp inswinger after rain interruption and later forced Kohli to chop the ball onto his stumps. India struggled at 27/2 due to Afridi's menacing bowling.
ย After giving early scars to the Indian batting lineup, the star Pakistan bowler came back for his second spell and took important wickets of Pandya and then Ravindra Jadeja which restricted India to at least 20โ30 runs short of what they would have scored. The prolific speedster ended with a figure of 4/35 in his quota of 10 overs
Let us look at how Twitter can react to this fightback from Indian team:
A good total that we can defend, given that our bowlers do well. Thanks to Kishan and Hardik. And those few runs from Bumrah in the end. We're on this. Let's go boys!๐ฎ๐ณโค๏ธ
