Despite winning the first Test in Centurion, India went on to lose the three-match Test series to South Africa. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that the hosts were absolutely clinical in the last two Tests, and ensured that they win yet another series against the Asian side at home. It is to be noted that a series win in South Africa has eluded India for 29 years.
This was India's best chance of winning a series in the rainbow nation. Despite facing a team which was going through a transition phase, and saw one of their key players retiring midway during the series, the highly celebrated side led by Virat Kohli couldn't live up to the expectations. Their performance in the series decider in Cape Town managed to disappoint their fans big time.
Thus several fans took to Twitter to criticize the Asian side. Moreover, India repeated the same mistakes which they did during the previous tour, to this part of the world in 2018. They kept on having batting collapses, and none of them stood up on a consistent basis. The third innings of the third Test saw India being bundled for 198.
Thus several cricket pundits and experts pointed out the fact that the visitors kept facing batting collapses. They were dissatisfied by seeing the same story repeated again and again. Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to mention the fact that India were facing a relatively weaker Proteas side and thus, should have won the series.
“Final frontier remains unconquered. 2018 was a contest between two evenly matched sides and you could take a lot of heart from the performances even in a series defeat. This tour though…winning the first test…superior side…and then losing 1-2. This will hurt. Should hurt," Aakash Chopra tweeted.

Had tweeted this before the series. Sad to see same story this time as well. Just didn't score enough runs. #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/AuK8QGIZn2

Outstanding by @OfficialCSA they were 1 down in the series. This was India’s best chance to win in South Africa as SA didn’t have that kind of team but they showed when u stuck together as a teams than u can achieve big things without any big names .. congratulations #INDvSA

Keegan Peterson (KP). Excellent initials (@KP24). A great world player in the making. My childhood hero Gundappa Vishwanath comes to mind #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/6T9SuzN6St
