Former Indian opener and now, commentator, Gautam Gambhir finally broke his silence on the highly-debated undeclared feud between former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and star Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Both cricketers were continuously in the headlines after their heated altercation during an IPL 2023 match between LSG and RCB.

Notably, Gautam Gambhir himself was the centre point of that controversy as he was also involved in a heated argument with Virat Kohli after the conclusion of the match. But now, Gautam Gambhir himself looked to put an end to all this after Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq ended the rifts with a hug and pleasantry exchange of smiles on the field after the match between India and Afghanistan.

Gautam Gambhir lauded Virat Kohli’s gesture of stopping the audience from mocking Naveen-ul-Haq, while the former was batting there in the middle during the second innings. The video of Kohli’s gesture towards the audience indicating to not mock Naveen, also went viral over social media as soon as it was shared by some users on X (Formerly Twitter).

“It was a great gesture from Virat Kohli to ask the crowd not to mock Naveen, I hope in coming matches, in different venues, fans don't troll him, everyone has made lots of sacrifices, you can support or not but don't mock him,” said Gambhir to Star Sports after India won by 8 wickets against Afghanistan.

Apart from that, Naveen-ul-Haq himself spoke about the crowd’s mocking and also discussed the moment when he met Virat Kohli with a smile and a hug.

“The crowd will chant for their home cricketers and that is what they did. It is his (Kohli’s) home ground,” said Naveen-ul-Haq after during a post-match conversation.

“It was always in the ground; it was nothing outside the ground. People make it big. They need stuff for their followers. We are done with that and I said yes we are done with that, we shook hands and hugged,” said Naveen to PTI while speaking about alleged rifts with Virat Kohli.
