Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra came up with a lot of appreciation for the young Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad; the Mumbai batter is currently in action for India in the ongoing five-match T20I series between India and Australia. He has been one of the key performers for India so far in the T20I series.

Apart from this, Gaikwad is also the leading run-scorer in the series so far, scoring 213 runs in 4 innings of the 4 matches, he played so far, with an amazing average of 71.00 including a century and a half-century. The 26-year-old also smashed a blistering century, scoring 123 runs off just 57 balls, hitting 13 fours and 7 sixes in the third T20I against Australia.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans coach and currently the commentator, Ashish Nehra heaped praise on Ruturaj Gaikwad for his excellent batting heroics. Apart from this, Nehra also feels that Gaikwad is kind of a player who could be an asset for India across all the formats at the highest level of the game.

“Everybody knows what kind of a player he is (Ruturaj Gaikwad). When you talk about Yashasvi Jaiswal, his game is completely different compared to Ruturaj Gaikwad's. You need solidity in the T20 format as well and that's what Gaikwad brings to the table. There's no doubt that Ruturaj Gaikwad is a three-format player for India,” said Nehra to Jio Cinema.

“The kind of elegance that Ruturaj Gaikwad shows is unbelievable, amazing and it was a great, great knock,” he added later.

Gaikwad also played a crucial knock of 32 runs off 28 balls, hitting 3 fours and a six with the bat; he also stitched a brilliant opening partnership of 50 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first wicket. India registered a 20-run win over Australia in the fourth T20I to gain an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match series. Now, both teams will lock horns in the last and fifth T20I of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in  Bengaluru on Sunday, December 3.
