India registered an amazing 2-wicket win in the nail-biting last-ball thriller in the first T20I of the five-match series against Australia. Both teams played this match at the Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and asked Australia to bat first.

Batting first, Australia posted a big total of 208 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of an amazing century scored by number three batter Josh Inglis; he played a blistering knock of 110 runs off just 50 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes, alongside former skipper Steve Smith who played a crucial knock of 52 runs off 41 balls, including 8 fours.

Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi were the only wicket-takers for India with one wicket each for India in the first innings.

While chasing the target, India faced some early blows as they lost their both openers just at the score of 22 runs in 2.3 overs. But then came an all-important and match-defining partnership of 112 runs for the third wicket between wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan and skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Skipper Yadav played a captaincy knock of 80 runs off just 42 balls, with 9 fours and 4 sixes, alongside Ishan’s 58 runs off 39 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes.

However, there came a phase in the second innings when India lost some wickets in the lower middle order in quick succession, which took the match to the last ball. But it was the star young batter Rinku Singh who finished off the match for India in a sensational style with a quick and blistering knock of 22 runs off just 14 balls, with 4 fours; his knock helped India to go past the target and win the match by two wickets, scoring 209 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
