India defeated Australia by 6 runs in the last and fifth T20I of the five-match T20I series; the match was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

India sealed the five-match T20I series against Australia by a commendable margin of 4-1 with a narrow 6-run win in the last and fifth T20I of the series. Both teams played this match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 3, 2023. The visiting skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and asked India to bat first.

Batting first, the hosts went on to post a total of 160 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer scored a crucial half-century, scoring 53 runs off 37 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from, the star all-rounder Axar Patel and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma also played the knocks of 31 and 24 runs, respectively to help India reach a total of 160 runs in 20 over, losing 8 wickets.

Jason Behrendorff and Ben Dwarshuis scalped two wickets each for Australia, alongside one wicket each picked by Aaron Hardie, Nathan Ellis, and Tanveer Sangha.

Indian bowlers get better Aussie batting attack

While chasing the target, the number three batter Ben McDermott played a well-fought knock of 54 runs off 36 balls with 5 sixes. But his knock went in vain as Australia could score only 154 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the entire 20 overs and fell 7 runs short of the target of 161 runs.

Eventually, the men in blue won the match by 6 runs to win the series by 4-1; star pacers, Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh picked 3 and 2 wickets, respectively for India. Apart from these two, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi also bagged 1 and 2 scalps, respectively to take their side home in the last and fifth T20I of the five-match series. Axar Patel won the ‘Player of the Match award for his brilliant all-round performance in India’s favour.

Now, Team India will tour South Africa for an all-format assignment, including 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs, and 2 Tests.
