Young Indian batter Prithvi Shaw has been out of action for a long time from international cricket as he hasn’t had enough chances to represent India at the highest level of the game. Apart from that, he has also been away from the competition for the last couple of months since he sustained an injury.
He also missed the Indian domestic tournaments like Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy due to the injury.
However, the youngster has made a sensational return to competitive cricket with an amazing century against Chhattisgarh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. Shaw smashed a century before the lunch on the first day of the match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur.
The opener scored 159 runs off 185 balls, with 18 fours and 3 sixes with the bat; it is his 13th century in First-Class cricket while playing for Mumbai.

Apart from his sensational century, the 24-year-old also stitched an amazing and sensational partnership of 244 runs for the first wicket with his opening partner Bhupen Lalwani. Notably, Lalwani scored a century, hitting 102 runs off 238 balls, with 10 fours.
On the back of these two centuries, Mumbai posted a big total of 310 runs for the loss of 4 wickets at the time of stumps on day 1 of the ongoing Elite Group B match against the hosts.
Ashish Chouhan scalped 3 out of the four wickets for Chhattisgarh, alongside one wicket picked by Vishvas Malik.
Mumbai are currently placed at the top spot in the Elite Group B with 4 wins in the 5 matches they have played so far in the tournament, including one defeat. The multi-time Ranji Trophy champions have 27 points to their name in the points table of Group B.
