It seems like the verbal showdown is not going to be curtained off very soon after the conclusion of the shortest-ever and one of the most controversial Tests in the history of the game. It’s none other than the recently-concluded second and last Test of the two-match series between South Africa and India at the Newlands in Cape Town that ended just within 4 and a half sessions from the start of the game.

In the same line of events, the South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad broke his silence over the same while he was questioned about the Newlands’ surface and the result of the match between South Africa and India.

"All the ethics and values of Test cricket go out the window." - Sukhi Conrad, SA Head Coach

Conrad looked more than a bit dissatisfied with the surface of the Newlands in Cape Town; he also spoke about the chief curator of the Newlands, Braam Mong. The Proteas coach felt that Mong might have made some extra and more-than-required efforts to ‘over-prepare’ the pitch.

“I don't know what people want me to say. You only need to look at the scores. 1.5-day Test match! You need to look at how they chased 80 (79). Sad state when you need more luck than skill. All the ethics and values of Test cricket go out the window,” said Conrad after the 7-wicket against India just on the second day of the Cape Town Test, which resulted in ending the series on an equal note with 1-1.

“I don't know what's going on here. I have moved on. Not in a position to know the goings on between the walls here. Everybody knows the wicket wasn't great. I know Braam Mong. Braam is a good guy. Sometimes good guys do bad things or make mistakes. This doesn't make him a rubbish groundsman. There will be a lot of learning for him. I might pop in here and have a word with him to see what he is seeing,” he added to his blunt opinion while talking about Newlands’ surface.
