A big news has made the Indian fans happy. Reports claim that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to make themselves available for selection in T20Is. The two batters have not played in T20Is since November 2022. The Indian team has been trying fresh faces in the shorter format in order to see how they can perform at bigger stage like the T20 World Cup.

Now that the ODI WC 2023 has ended and the focus immediately is on the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian management is looking to get the seniors back in the side. The move seems a bit forced one. The two batters have shown interest in joining the T20I side, as it would providde them an opportunity to be in the World Cup squad in June.

The T20 WC 2024 will be played in the West Indies and the USA. Ahead of the big tournament, India will be playing the series against afghansiatn, their only assignment in the format before the big tournament. The likes of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have sustained injuries and would not be taking part in the series against Afghanistan. It is a big problem for India, considering that they were the captains for India in the recent past.

Hardik was the captain for India in T20Is from November 2022 to August 2023. Due to his injury against Bangladesh in the WC 2023, Hardik was ruled out of the series against Afghanistan, SA, and Australia. As a result, Suryakumar stepped up as the captain for the series against SA and Australia. He will miss the series against Afghanistan due to an injury.
