Star Indian batter and stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav played a sensational knock in the first T20I of the five-match series against Australia. It was also his first appearance in T20I as skipper of the Indian team. The 33-year-old won the ‘Player of the Match award for his knock of 80 runs off just 42 balls in India’s favour.

Subsequently, the star Australian batter Josh Inglis lauded Suryakumar Yadav for the latter’s outstanding batting outing in the T20I series opener against the Aussies. Notably, Inglis also scored a blistering century, scoring 110 runs off just 50 balls, hitting 11 fours and 8 sixes but it went in vain as Australia ended up as the losing side in the match.

"It was an exceptional innings today." - Josh Inglis about Suryakumar Yadav

The Aussie batter also opened up on the fear of SKY in the Australian camp, describing the intent of the World No.1 T20I batter while batting there in the middle.

“It is obviously not ideal to bowl so many wides but I think SKY is such a hard guy to bowl to and he was taking the pace of the ball and moving around the crease so much and had put immense pressure on the bowlers. We need to clean this up in the next few games,” said Inglis during a post-match conversation after Australia’s 2-wicket loss against India.

“It’s hard to say really where we went wrong. It’s a pretty wicket and SKY did what he regularly does. It was an exceptional innings today. And with Ishan Kishan top there, it was not easy for us. Maybe if we had got a wicket or two earlier, the pressure would have been on the Indians. Maybe it would have been a different scenario then. But, on the whole, it was a good day of cricket,” he added later.

Furthermore, Inglis also spoke about his amazing century for Australia in the first innings, he also mentioned releasing any kind of pressure.

“It’s nice to get the monkey off the back, I suppose. The focus was on winning the game but, unfortunately, we couldn’t get it today. The mindset is pretty good. The T20 World Cup is around the corner and it’s a good opportunity to get some T20 cricket before the big event. I gave 100% of my effort in that direction,” he said.
