The IPL 2024 auction is underway as the fans have seen some surprising bids from the 10 participating franchises. The biggest bids that attracted the eyeballs were for the veteran Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, alongside his teammate and skipper Pat Cummins. Starc and Cummins were sold for the whopping amounts of INR 24.75 crores and INR 20.5 crores, respectively.
Apart from that, what stunned both the cricket fans and experts were the bids for the uncapped Indian cricketers Shubham Dubey and Sameer Rizvi. Both stars surprisingly emerged as the most expensive uncapped Indian cricketers in the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
With said that, here we’ll have a brief look at the star uncapped duo who attracted the eyeballs of the franchises in the auction for the next edition of the tournament.
Shubham Dubey – The Vidarbha Star getting IPL recognition
The 29-year-old Maharashtra-born batter Shubham Dubey made his List-A debut for Vidarbha in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. He batted quite impressively as it was the start of his domestic career, making his debut in domestic cricket during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played his first T20.
In 20 T20s so far, he has scored 485 runs with a very good average of 37.30, hitting one half-century with 6 unbeaten knocks in the middle-order. He has been picked by Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 for a big amount of INR 5.80 crores. He could provide an additional strength in the middle-order for the Royals.
Sameer Rizvi – The Meerut Guy’s Journey to Madras
The young batting sensation from UP’s Meerut city, Sameer Rizvi attracted the attention of the cricket experts and fans with his blistering batting performances for Kanpur Strikers in the UPT20 League. He scored 255 runs in just 9 innings of the tournament, hitting two amazing centuries with the bat.
He could provide a potential strength in the batting attack for the defending champions Chennai Super Kings as they went to buy Sameer for a whopping amount of INR 8.40 crores, which is the most for any uncapped Indian player so far in the ongoing IPL 2024 mini-auction.
