Suryakumar Yadav would’ve never expected his first press conference as India’s T20I captain would be this dull and lacklustre as only two journalists were present in the press conference hall. The stand-in T20I skipper of India was supposed to address the media ahead of the first of the five-match T20I series against Australia in Vishakhapatnam.

SKY himself was stunned after seeing only 2 journalists in the hall; notably, the fatigue of the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 can be seen clearly, not only in the players, organizers and support staff but also in the media professionals who were covering and broadcasting it.

"Only two people?" asked Suryakumar Yadav who was stunned to see only two guys from the Indian news agencies, PTI and ANI. Usually, the Indian players are used to a lot of media persons and journalists and numerous questions, in which many questions remain unanswered; sometimes, it becomes necessary for Team India’s media manager to step in and manage the situation. But whatever happened in SKY’s press conference wasn’t expected by anyone else.

"It is difficult it will take time." - Suryakumar Yadav on 'moving on' from ODI World Cup 2023 defeat

Furthermore, in the press conference, the 33-year-old was asked about the unexpected and heart-breaking loss of India against Australia in the final of the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023.

“It is difficult it will take time, it can't be that you wake up the next morning and you forget everything that happened. It was a long tournament. We would have loved to win it,” said Suryakumar Yadav who is set to lead India as a stand-in skipper in the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia.

“But as you get up in the morning the sun rises again, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You have to move on. It is a fresh team (T20 squad), really looking forward to the challenge. Obviously, a little disappointing but when you look back at the journey it was a great campaign. All of India and our families were proud of the way everyone displayed their talent on the ground,” he added later.
