In a recent piece of news, the state cricket authorities of Chhattisgarh faced embarrassment after the electricity supply of the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium was disconnected due to the non-payment of electricity bills that were due since 2009. In the same line of events, the power corporation discontinued the electricity supply of the stadium in Raipur five years back.
Meanwhile, the recently concluded fourth T20I of the five-match series between India and Australia was played with the support of power generators in the absence of regular power supply. The instalment of generators went on to cost up to INR 1.4 crores which was almost 2 crores less than the electricity bill worth INR 3.16 crores.
“The stadium’s electricity bill has remained unpaid for almost five years, resulting in the electricity department disconnecting the supply in 2018. The dispute over bill payments involves the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association, the PWD Department, and the Sports Department. The CSCS has urged the state departments to transfer stadium ownership to them, allowing the sports body, affiliated with the Indian Cricket Board, to manage it entirely. However, the PWD and the Sports Department have evaded addressing this issue,” reads a report in the Times of India.
This news also garnered a lot of reactions from cricket fans as they called out the administrative authorities for not paying the due bills of the electricity.
India won the series after beating Australia in the 4th T20I
Talking about cricketing action in the 4th T20I, India were asked to bat first as Australia won the toss. Batting first, India posted a total of 174 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of some brilliant batting heroics, especially the 46 runs off just 29 balls scored by Rinku Singh, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes, alongside Jitesh Sharma’s 35 runs off just 19 balls, with a four, and 3 sixes. Later, India restricted Australia to the score of 154 runs for the loss of 7 wickets and won the match by 20 runs to take an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the series.

And shameless @BCCI given the Nagpur match to raipur
— Ctrl C Ctrl Memes (@Ctrlmemes_) December 2, 2023
Why BCCI thinks only Ahmedabad stadium 🏟️ represents India. Isn’t cricket board responsibility to take care of every stadium in the country or is it state cricket boards responsibility to?

They can't pay 3.1 cr dues but they can spend 1.4 cr in one night?
— MemoCracy (@BiggBoss1314) December 2, 2023
The state of richest board in the world🙆🏾♂️
— Yogesh (@yogeshontop) December 2, 2023
There has to be some reason why the bill wasn't paid because BCCI spending 1.4 cr for just one day instead of paying 3.5 cr of dues is not justifiable.
And they blame the government for pollution.

Pay the bill and use the electricity.
Hahaha why are they not paying their Electricity Bill
— Ahmed Pirzada (@joinpirzada) December 2, 2023
Because they are not hosting many games as other stadiums 🏟️
