India equalled the three-match T20I series against South Africa by a margin of 1-1 with a big win by 106 runs in the last and third T20I of the series.

India defeated South Africa by a massive margin of 106 runs in the last and third T20I of the three-match series. The hosts’ skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Batting first, the men in blue posted a big total of 201 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored a swashbuckling century, scoring 100 runs off just 56 balls, with 7 fours and 8 sixes with the bat. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a crucial knock of 60 runs off 41 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes on his credit.

On the back of these knocks, India managed to go past the total of 200 runs in the allotted 20 overs of the first innings. Keshav Maharaj and Lizaad Williams picked two wickets each for South Africa, alongside one wicket each bagged by Nandre Burger and Tabraiz Shami.

Kuldeep Yadav leads India's bowling attack for a remarkable win

While chasing the target, it was only David Miller who ended up as the leading run-scorer, scoring 35 runs off 25 balls, with 2 fours and 2 sixes. But the star Indian spinner and birthday boy Kuldeep Yadav claimed a match-defining five-wicket haul for India, picking 5 wickets at the cost of just 17 runs in 2.5 overs.

Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar also picked one wicket each, including 2 wickets bagged by star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Thanks to these bowling performances, India bundled out South Africa at the score of 95 runs in 13.5 overs in the second innings and won the match by a big margin of 106 runs.

Eventually, India equalled the three-match T20I series by a margin of 1-1 with a win in the last match; Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won both the ‘Player of the Match and ‘Player of the Series awards for brilliant batting performances in the match and throughout the series.
