It’s been 4 days since India’s only one but very heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 but the debate is still on from both teams around the question if the best team won the title or not. This very debate and discussion was initiated by the former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif just after the conclusion of the final between India and Australia.

“I can never accept that the best team has won the world cup. The Indian team is the best team on paper,” said Mohammed Kaif on Star Sports during a post-match show after India’s 6-wicket defeat against Australia.

Subsequently, it didn’t go down well and easy with the Australians, including the journalists and the currently active veteran cricketer, David Warner as well; notably, Warner was a key part of Australia's ODI World Cup 2023 title-winning team.

“I like MK, the issue is it does not matter what’s on paper. At the end of the day, you need to perform when it matters. That’s why they call it a final. That’s the day that counts and it can go either way, that’s sports. 2027 here we come,” wrote Warner in his X-post (formerly Twitter).

Now, Mohammed Kaif once again came up with a reply to David Warner and the other Australians who took charge against the former after his statement on Australia’s win.

“Facts: It was Australia's day in the final, they won, they are World Cup winners.

More facts: India comprehensively won 10 games, they lost 11th, and they had the best bowlers and batters. They were the tournament's best team. Both facts, on paper and on the field. Relax Australia,” wrote Kaif in his recent X-post.

Earlier, the renowned Australian journalist and broadcaster Glenn Mitchell ignited this discussion with a comment on Kaif’s statement. Mitchell in his X-post, wrote, “I think someone needs to remind former Indian batter, Mohammed Kaif that World Cup finals are won on a cricket field and not on paper.”
