The veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is all set to be in action for Team India in his IPL home ground at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow against England in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, KL Rahul was also reminded by a journalist, of some unforgettable memories with the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Notably, it was this very ground of Lucknow where KL Rahul sustained an injury during the Indian Premier League, which eventually kept him away from the field of cricket for 4-5 months. The veteran Karnataka batter spoke his heart out on the same feeling of having those memories with this venue.
"I can't say that it is not in my mind." - KL Rahul on tough memories in Lucknow
“Yes, I am a little sad about that, but the injury that I had, kept me out of the game for 4-5 months. That was a tough time. Whoever has an injury, if you ask anyone - they undergo surgery and to come back, it takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of patience and you have to go through that which is not very easy. In cricket, whatever ups and downs happen, sometimes you score 100, sometimes you don't, that success or failure you can handle but this painful time that is there, doing physio and coming back into cricket. That was tough,” said KL Rahul during the pre-match press conference ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against England.
“I can't say that it is not in my mind. Yesterday when I came to the ground, my last memory of this ground was - falling and injuring myself. "Mai bhoolna chahta hoon magar log bhoolne nahi dete (I want to forget it but people keep reminding me). Hopefully, I can put that aside and I can make some better and happier memories to forget all of that," he added later.
Interestingly, KL Rahul has got out for only one time in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 so far. He has scored 177 runs in 4 innings of the 5 matches, he played so far for Team India, with an unbelievable average of 177.00, hitting a 97-run half-century against Australia.
