Former Indian cricketer and now commentator, Aakash Chopra came up with a hilarious dig at the Sri Lankan team after they collapsed while batting first against New Zealand in the ongoing 41st match of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, both teams are taking on each other at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Sri Lanka are in trouble as they have lost 8 wickets at the score of 124 runs in 27 overs, having Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera at the individual scores of 13 and 0 runs, respectively. Only the opener Kusal Perera scored a blistering half-century, scoring 51 runs off just 28 balls, hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, the former Indian star Aakash Chopra came up with a tweet, trolling Sri Lanka for a poor outing against the Blackcaps as Sri Lanka’s win is very crucial for the Pakistan cricket team to increase their chances and hopes of qualification in the semi-finals of the tournament.

“Are they not going to wait for the rain to at least raise the hopes?” wrote Aakash Chopra in his recent X-post.

Here’s a look at the X-post by Aakash Chopra:

Currently, the scenario for the fourth spot in the semi-finals is quite interesting as three teams are in contention for this spot, including New Zealand, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan will be hoping for Sri Lanka’s win against New Zealand and South Africa’s win against Afghanistan. Notably, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan have 8 points each with four wins in the tournament so, one win for either of the teams will strengthen their chances with a hope of other teams’ defeat in their matches.

Apart from all this, the three teams, India, South Africa and Australia have already qualified for the three spots of the semi-finals, having the hosts India at the top spot in the points table.
